<image:title>Home - Coming Out</image:title>
<image:caption>While it may be easier today for some people to come out, we still live in a culture where it’s not necessarily easy or safe to come out in the first place. Needing to hide or keep part of yourself secret can create an environment ripe for fear, rejection, or sadness.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - Anti-Oppression, Anti-Racist, Intersectional</image:title>
<image:caption>As we live in a society founded on systemic oppression and racism, our therapists keep in mind how oppression and racism can impact you on a day-to-day basis. We recognize that you hold more than one identity at any time & work with you to navigate the complexities of living within intersectional identities– including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, ability, body size, & more. We also acknowledge how Bloom Psychotherapy NYC works & provides services within inherently racist, classist, & oppressive systems (private insurance & a general capitalist society). We strive to remain as anti-oppressive, anti-racist, & intersectional as possible while working within these systems.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - Feel Safe, Supported, & Understood</image:title>
<image:caption>As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, & as someone who may identify as a person of color, there are daily reminders that it’s not always safe to be yourself. Even though New York City is more open & accepting than most places in the country, it can still be hard. There are a number of issues that are specific to our community, such as alternative relationship structures, gay parenting, & internalized & externalized homophobia & transphobia, to name a few. At Bloom, our clinicians work from a place of compassion & empathy as you work through whatever brings you to therapy.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - Family Struggles</image:title>
<image:caption>While some may be lucky enough to be loved & supported by their family, there are still those who can’t be fully open or transparent with everyone in their world. Having to live two or more separate lives can weigh on you after awhile. How can you continue to develop your sense of self to live authentically, regardless of the consequences?</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - Sexuality & Gender</image:title>
<image:caption>Your sexual & gender identities are only a few among the many things that make you the unique & complex person you are today. The last thing you may want to do in therapy is educate your therapist on any of your identities. At Bloom, all of our therapists ensure we educate ourselves about the various identities that our clients embody, so you don’t have to teach us about the basics. While issues around gender or sexuality may come up, we also know you may have other things you want to explore & understand about yourself.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Finding a therapist who we can truly connect with can be so hard. I aim to hold space for building that connection in our work together, at your pace, as connection is so vital to feeling good about ourselves. I believe in slowing things down in our work together so that we can collaborate intentionally and from a grounded place to support you. I truly believe we know ourselves best and inherently know what we need and want for ourselves. But sometimes that connection to knowing is blocked. I see therapy as a way for us to work on unblocking those connections. I am a New York State licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), and I have been providing therapy and other mental health services to the LGBTQIA+ community and other communities of New York City for over 15 years. I work with adults, children and teens, and with partners/intimate relationships. In addition to therapy, I also provide clinical supervision to mental health professionals. I come from a strengths based, trauma-informed lens, with a foundation in anti-oppression, intersectional, feminist, queer, and psychodynamic theories. I also incorporate somatic therapy in our work, through both EMDR (Eye Movment Desensitizationand Reprocessing) therapy as an EMDR trained therapist, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) as a Level 1 certified Sensorimotor Psychotherapy therapist. Finally, I am a queer, South Asian of Indian descent. I am a wife, daughter, sister, friend, step parent to human beings and pet parent (some of whom you may meet in our sessions!) Your pets are always welcome to visit during our sessions:) Therapy works best when it’s collaborative. I aim to bring creativity, humor, and playfulness (as appropriate) into our work together and hope you will join me. I welcome all the different parts of you into our work!</image:caption>

<image:caption>The need to feel seen, heard, and understood exists within all of us and is vital to thriving in life. Without this need being met, you can find yourself struggling with feeling disconnected from others, weighed down by depression, held back by traumatic memories, overwhelmed by worry and fear, or feeling stagnant in your life while everyone else passes you by. I am a licensed clinical social worker committed to providing a therapy space that is safe, non-judgmental, affirming, collaborative, and empathic. I specialize in working with child, adolescent, and adult survivors of interpersonal trauma, LQBTQIA, and people of color. Understanding that individual issues are complex, I use an eclectic approach to tailor treatment to your unique experiences and needs. Whether you are looking to strengthen the tools you already possess in order to respond to life’s crucibles or you need assistance with unpacking stories you may not have previously had the words for, I can help.</image:caption>
